The beloved blue time traveling police public phone box returns to new adventures and new faces. After fan favorite David Tennant returned to the fans screen as the 14th Doctor – the BBC Show announced his new protagonist. Tennant, who won hearts with his portrayal of the Tenth Doctor, is set to reprise his role for a few wonderful specials bringing fans nostalgia and smiles before passing the sonic screwdriver to our new Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa.
Gatwa, widely known for his performances in Sex Education brings energy to the beloved character. As someone who grew up with the adventures of the Doctor it means the world to see a queer BiPoC actor take the famous torch and open the doors of the TARDIS for new adventures through time and space. The third special gave us a first peek of what’s to come with Gatwas Timelord at hand. For now we are seated and excited to see what’s to come.
Also worth to mention: the creative team behind the special episodes consists of no other than former writer Russel T. Davis who returns as the shows newest show runner. He started out as the Shows original Showrunner for its Revival in 2005 and left it with Tennant in 2010.

Fans have been enjoying the recent special episodes that aired on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ internationally in the past two weeks. The episodes started airing on November 25th. Once again they proved that the fans of the Show are there to stay.
David Tennant isn’t the only recognizable face – season 4 companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) returns as well. Followed by incredible additions such as Heartstopper Actress Yasmin Finney and non other than the great Neil Patrick Harris as the Antagonist: „the Toymaker.“ The third installment of the special episodes aired last night and fans have been loving it. Neil Patrick Harris captures to no ones surprise a scene stealing character with silly accents and of course close up magic tricks.

We didn’t want David Tennant to go and this was a perfect way to embrace his doctor one more time. The special episodes had everything the whovians craved and loved the show for. Funny dialogue, dry Sarcasm, witty characters and a big adventure that played with the viewers emotions. How special to see Tennant and Tate embody these characters one more time and how beautiful that the specials gave these two actors a screen to shine and say goodbye one more time (no I am not ready to let go – still not ready – never will).
A new trailer to Gatwas first adventure left fans with promising adventures to come. I am excited to see where the new Timelord will take us and will be watching for sure. My inner child for sure is giddy with joy.
The three Special Episodes are available to stream on the BBC One Player if you’re in the UK and Disney+ if you live outside the United Kingdom. Allons-y!
