Welcome to Mise En Cinematic

A queer-based space for all things film and tv

We're MEC!

We’re Rue, Mel & Jonathan. Mise En Cinematic (or MEC as we love to call it) was born by our wish to be seen in the world of film journalism. We wanted to create a community that has a safe-space to talk about their favorite releases with a queer or feminist approach.

on this picture you can see three people. The Admins of Mise En Cinematic. Arrows are pointing at Mel, Rue and Joni.

Queer Film of the Month

A film that stuck with us after seeing it in Venice back in 2024. This beautifully haunting adaptation of William S. Burroughs novel by Luca Guadagnino is finally out for everyone to see
Amrou Al-Kadhi’s directorial debut is a vibrant, tender, and complex exploration of queer love, identity, and selfhood. With a fabulous aesthetic, a great soundtrack, and a lot of heart, it’s a film worth experiencing and our queer film of the month!
Will & Harper is the buddy road trip doc I didn’t know I needed. It’s funny, heartfelt, and dives deep into self-acceptance, all while showing the power of true friendship. Their bond is genuine, their conversations are real, and it’s an important watch for everyone, especially cis folks.
